The team played a number of mini dual singles and doubles matches against Akron, Boston University, Syracuse, and Temple. The Minutewomen impressed against the Orange with a 4-1 doubles mark. UMass also hung tough against Boston University (3-4 in singles, 1-2 in doubles) and Akron (2-3 singles, 2-1 doubles). Senior Laura Danai had a standout performance, going 5-0 in the three-day event that began on Friday.]]></description>

The honor goes to any team who accumulate a team grade point average of 3.2 or higher. Along with the team recognition, five individual athletes earned honors as well with Kaitlyn Carpenter, Laura Danai, Stephanie Gimenez, Maude Lecluyse, and Masha Pozar recording a 3.4 GPA or above. It marked the team's 10th-consecutive season of earning the prestigious ITA award.]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[The UMass women's tennis team held their end of the year banquet handing out awards and naming their captains for the upcoming 2008-09 season.No. 2 doubles and No. 6 singles player Laura Danai recived both the MVP award chosen by the players of the team, and the coach's award for the person that most exemplifies UMass Tennis. Danai finished the season with a 17-11 singles record, the second most wins on the team falling one shy of tying Candynce Boney. The Terriers took all of the games from the Minutewomen including each of the doubles games. This loss also ended a six-game winning streak UMass had.
