Men Take Second, Women Take Third at Dartmouth Invitational

DARTMOUTH, N.H. - The men's and women's cross country teams opened the season with a second and third place finish, respectively, this weekend at the Dartmouth Invitational hosted by Dartmouth College. Sophomore Andrew McCann (Fayetteville, N.Y.) lead the way for the men by placing fifth overall, while senior Christina Derosa (Sound Beach, N.Y.) lead the way for the women by placing second overall.

Andrew McCann was the first for the Minutemen to finish the 8K run in a time of 26:18.50. Junior Jesse Regnier (Hampden, Mass.) was right behind to take seventh overall in 26:29.90. Sophomore Daniel Barry (Sheffield, Mass.), sophomore Nicolai Naranjo (Essex Fells, N.J.) and senior Joe Czupryna (Chicopee, Mass.) rounded out the top five for the men finishing ninth, thirteenth, and sixteenth, respectively.

Overall, the men took second place amongst seven schools with Dartmouth College taking first place.

Christina Derosa began her senior year with a solid performance in the 5 K run by finishing first for the Minutewomen in 6:27.4. Red-shirted freshman Shiyi Zan (Ottawa, Ontario) placed sixth overall with a time of 6:48.3. Senior Amber Sayer (Amherst, Mass.), freshman Lauren Stocker (Westfield, Mass.), and freshman Gina Perno (Plainview, N.Y.) rounded out the top five for the women finishing eighteenth, twenty-seventh, and thirty-seventh, respectively.
 

 

Overall, the women placed third along with Keene State College while the US Naval Academy took first place.

Next weekend, both the men's and women's will host Maine and Vermont beginning at 11:30 A.M.
