Mass Attack Announces 2008-09 Schedule
  • 2008-09 Schedule
    An 18 game slate in the Mullins Center, the Ice Breaker Tournament featuring Boston University, Michigan State and North Dakota and another highly competitive season of Hockey East excitement highlight the 2008-09 University of Massachusetts schedule as announced by head coach Don "Toot" Cahoon. Additionally, the non-conference schedule also features tilts against Cornell, Rensselaer, St. Lawrence, and the Dartmouth Ledyard National Bank Classic featuring Bemidji State, Army and host Dartmouth.     Matt Anderson Helps Chicago Wolves To Calder Cup Championship

    The Chicago Wolves closed the 72nd American Hockey League season on Tuesday night with a 5-2 win against the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins for a 4-1 series win to take the 2008 Calder Cup Championship. University of Massachusetts hockey alum Matt Anderson made his 25th Calder Cup Playoff appearance and 39th overall with the Wolves. In this year's Cup Playoffs, he finished with one goal, one assist and an even rating. The Wolves jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the series before falling in Games 4 and 5. (more)
     
    UMass Hockey Alum Matt Anderson And Chicago Wolves Look To Clinch Calder Cup On Tuesday Night

    University of Massachusetts hockey alum Matt Anderson and the Chicago Wolves have a chance to win the American Hockey League's Calder Cup on Tuesday night when they host the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins on Tuesday night at All-State Arena. This will be Anderson's 24th Calder Cup Playoff appearance and 38th overall with the Wolves. In this year's Cup Playoffs, he has one goal, one assist and an even rating.     UMass Places 12 On Hockey East All-Academic Team
  • Complete Hockey East Release
    Headlined by Mike Kostka earning Distinguished Scholar accolades, 12 members of the University of Massachusetts hockey team were named to the Hockey East All-Academic Team as announced by the league office. UMass had the third highest amount of student-athletes honored just behind Maine (16) and UMass Lowell (13). To be named to the All-Academic Team, student-athletes must achieve a 3.0 grade point average in each semester of competition during the school year.

    Pond Club/UMass Hockey Golf Tournament To Be Held June 9th
  • 2008 Pond Club/UMass Hockey Golf Tournament Registration
    The University of Massachusetts Hockey Team and the Pond Club would like to take this opportunity to invite you to our 8th Annual Pond Club Golf Tournament to raise funds for our hockey program. We are proud to announce that this year's event is again being held Monday June 9th at the Orchards Golf Club in South Hadley, site of the 2004 Women's US Open Golf Tournament. Every golfer will receive a complimentary gift for participating in this year's event. Each golfer will also receive a sleeve of UMass logo golf balls, pre-tournament breakfast, post tournament dinner, and mulligans & string - all part of this package. Prizes will be awarded to winning teams, for the longest drive (men and ladies), and closest to the pin contests on selected holes. There will also be an opportunity to compete directly against Coach Don "Toot" Cahoon on the par-three tenth hole.

    Mass Attack Signs Filiou, Raiola And Wellman To NLI's
    UMass hockey head coach Don "Toot" Cahoon announced today that three future Minutemen have signed National Letters of Intent. Casey Wellman will join UMass for the 2008-2009 season, while Anthony Raiola and Eric Filiou will join the squad in 2009. Wellman scored 55 points for the Cedar Rapids Rough Riders of the USHL this season. Raiola was named All-Minnesota Honorable Mention and will play in USHL next year with Sioux Falls, while Filiou will play a second season with the Nanaimo Clippers (BCHL) after being named the league's Rookie of the Year.
